A good, clean, and well linked station in Edinburgh. Waverley can be overwhelmingly busy, and Edinburgh Park, etc, are out of town. Easy to get a bus or taxi / Uber home.

Some station this is! The staff are always lovely and happy to assist with any queries along the way. They were so kind they even let my friend through without a ticket. Yay! The piano needs a bit of work I’ll be honest. My rendition of Maple Leaf Rag sounded a bit too raggy and out of tune. On a slightly more negative note, the scary looking homeless next to the main entrance has a fierce looking dog! Stay away! (I think it’s an XL Bully) Nice station. Definitely recommend! Ooh I took this cool picture.

Dating back to 1842, Haymarket station is the second biggest railway station in Edinburgh and is a good starting point for a journey west to Glasgow or north over the Forth Bridge and beyond.
The old main entrance on the east side is in need of a good clean and removal of weeds from the building. The new north entrance is much more fresh and modern.
Inside, the concourse is light and airy with shops and a staffed ticket office.
Has good links to local tram and bus stops.

Set at the west end of Edinburgh, Haymarket station consists of 5 platforms and mostly is a second stop of choice for those who don't need to go to Waverly. A modernized station, one end still consists of the old station facade. There are lifts and stairs to get to the platforms and there are dot matrix displays for all platforms and in the station building ( which spans over the tracks). With Waverly only 4 minutes down the track, it's hard to believe that there used to be yet another station between them. There is bicycle storage outside and the tram stops here as well as bus stops nearby. No shops inside as it's not a massive building, but there are plenty cafes nearby and a Starbucks within a few meters.

This is an ideal station for traveling to or from the west end of Edinburgh. It is modern and clean and has staff available who are always ready to assist. A small M&S Food outlet is situated in the station foyer as is AMT Coffee. Edinburgh trams stop by the station entrance on the route between York Place and Edinburgh Airport.

Great modern station. Far easier and quicker to enter / leave than Waverley. A good place to change trains too.
